I will use this scholarship to complete my education and better participate in the countless opportunities NACE has to offer. I am deeply motivated and inspired by not only the NACE Houston professional and student chapter but also by NACE National and the Foundation of NACE. 2023 Jo C. Dermid Scholarship Recipient
| Julie Teran, CPCE “I have been in the hospitality industry since I was 14, and in the 1980s a college degree wasn't really needed to grow in our industry. I see the professionals entering our industry now with degrees and certifications and so much more knowledge than I started with, and it makes me realize that I have missed out on an opportunity to improve myself and become better at what I love to do, This scholarship will enable me to study for and earn the CPCE designation. I am excited to learn more about the core competencies that I don't have as much experience in, as a catering sales manager, and broaden my viewpoint as an event professional. I know what I know, and this designation is a shortcut for those who haven't worked with me (yet!) to trust that I know what I'm doing! I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and look forward to joining the next CPCE Study Group to begin the journey of earning a CPCE this year.” |
